Care & Access
Timely access to health care is essential to well-being. Without it, people cannot reach their full potential, communities are less resilient and health inequities persist.
As a community-focused, locally governed health care organization, we are committed to expanding access in ways that are practical, sustainable and rooted in the needs of the communities we serve. For us, access means bringing care closer to home and ensuring people receive the right services, at the right time, in the right setting.
Through new partnerships and regional expansions, we strive to ensure care is available where and when it’s needed.
Some of our achievements and milestones in 2025 include:
- Announcing plans to codevelop a new medical campus with Kootenai Health in northern Idaho
- Partnering with Tellica Imaging to improve access to imaging services in the Puget Sound region
- Advancing an affiliation with Oregon-based Samaritan Health Services to strengthen community-based care in the Willamette Valley
- Expanding care in the Yakima Valley by opening a neighborhood emergency room and ambulatory surgery center
- Kicking off the expansion of MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital’s kitchen, part of a 20-year plan to expand the size of the hospital’s campus
MultiCare and Kootenai Health embark on a new venture
MultiCare and Kootenai Health announced plans to jointly develop Prairie Medical Campus, a new multiphase, 30-acre medical campus in Post Falls, Idaho. The facility will include a micro-hospital with an emergency department and other services designed to expand access to care in the region. With the population of Kootenai County and eastern Spokane County expected to double over the next 20 years, the new campus will help meet rising community needs.
MultiCare partners with Tellica Imaging to expand imaging access
MultiCare and Tellica Imaging launched a new partnership to give patients in the Puget Sound region greater access to affordable, high-quality medical imaging services, including CT and MRI scans. Through this innovative partnership, MultiCare and Tellica, part of Intermountain Health, opened three new imaging facilities in Auburn, Bremerton and Tacoma in October 2025.
MultiCare and Samaritan Health Services plan to affiliate
MultiCare and Oregon-based Samaritan Health Services approved an affiliation agreement in 2025, paving the way for Samaritan to become part of MultiCare. Together, Samaritan and MultiCare will focus on strengthening health care across the Willamette Valley by expanding access, improving quality, supporting affordability and advancing health equity.
Keeping commitments in Yakima
When Yakima Memorial Hospital and its related clinics joined MultiCare, we made a promise to the community to expand access to local services and improve the care experience. In 2025, we made progress on keeping this promise by opening a new neighborhood emergency room in Union Gap and an ambulatory surgery center in Yakima. We also embarked on a three-year project to improve the aesthetics, comfort and functionality of the hospital.
Feeding our community: Hospital expansion kicks off with kitchen remodel
In 2025, MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital began a 20-year plan to expand its campus with the addition of a 160-bed patient tower. That work began in the “heartbeat” of the campus — the kitchen that feeds and nourishes patients, visitors and staff. The project includes a remodel of the existing kitchen and the construction of a new space.
