MultiCare expands access to integrated, patient-centered care with the public launch of the MultiCare Cancer Institute and, later in the year, the MultiCare Neuroscience Institute. These institutes bring together clinical expertise, research opportunities and comprehensive support services across our organization to improve care delivery throughout the Pacific Northwest.

MultiCare Yakima Memorial Heart, Lung & Vascular Clinic and the MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital Catheterization Lab join Pulse Heart Institute. This expansion helps improve access to cardiac care in Central Washington. Later in the year, Pulse opens new cardiology clinics in Silverdale — the first Pulse clinic in Kitsap County — and in Bonney Lake.

Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) is the first Blue Zones Project Approved Worksite in Pierce County. Sponsored by MultiCare and other community partners, this initiative uses evidence-based solutions to drive improvements in health and well-being for communities and businesses. As an approved worksite, PLU staff and faculty have the opportunity to incorporate healthy habits into their daily lives.

The Pulse Heart Institute team at MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital opens a new hybrid operating room (OR) suite. This hybrid suite combines the best features of an operating room and a cardiac catheterization room, giving physicians the flexibility to tackle more complex medical procedures and provide care for a range of heart and vascular conditions. Later in the year, a hybrid OR opens at MultiCare Capital Medical Center.

MultiCare Indigo Urgent Care increases access to care in the Tri-Cities community by opening a new clinic location in Richland; three other Indigo locations — in Puyallup, Yelm and Hayden, Idaho — also open their doors in 2025.

The Surgical Review Corporation names MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital a Center of Excellence in Robotic and Colorectal Surgery. This accreditation recognizes Tacoma General’s commitment to the highest standards of quality care and safety.

MultiCare Covington Medical Center earns an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety.

MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital & Health Network breaks ground on a new outpatient children’s therapy center in Tacoma. Projected to open in 2026, this new facility will offer a variety of services, including physical, occupational, speech and feeding therapy, as well as audiology and in-house orthotics and prosthetics.

MultiCare receives funding from the state capital budget to renovate a MultiCare Deaconess Hospital facility, which will house the Spokane Internal Medicine Residency program. Expected to begin accepting residents in 2027, the program will help improve access to primary care for Inland Northwest residents.

MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s team members join a patient and their family in Washington, D.C., for the Children’s Hospital Association’s Family Advocacy Day. Together, they meet with federal lawmakers to advocate for policies that protect and strengthen access to Medicaid and pediatric care for children and families.

Pulse Heart Institute teams at MultiCare Auburn Medical Center, MultiCare Deaconess Hospital, MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital and MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital receive the 2025 American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain — MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award. This award recognizes our commitment to maintaining a high standard of care for patients experiencing a heart attack.

Through its Get With the Guidelines® program, the American Heart Association recognizes eight MultiCare hospitals in the Puget Sound and Inland Northwest regions for our commitment to providing high-quality stroke care. MultiCare Allenmore Hospital and MultiCare Capital Medical Center also receive certification from DNV as Primary Stroke Centers in 2025.

The MultiCare Academy for Students in Healthcare (M.A.S.H.) Camp expands to Inland Northwest and Yakima communities. Offered in Puget Sound since 2004, M.A.S.H. Camp is a free, hands-on summer enrichment experience for high school students that provides a firsthand look at careers in health care. In 2025, 157 students participated in M.A.S.H Camp across all three regions.

Nominated by peers, more than 60 MultiCare doctors in the Puget Sound are named to Seattle magazine’s 25th annual Top Doctors list.

MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital initiates a multiyear renovation to modernize and refresh patient rooms, hallways, waiting areas and staff spaces. A strategic investment to enhance the healing environment at Yakima Memorial, the project kicks off as the hospital celebrates its 75th anniversary.

Quilted Health, a provider of midwife-led pregnancy and gynecology services, joins MultiCare. Building on a trusted partnership since 2022, this milestone supports greater access to midwifery care for people of all ages in the Inland Northwest.

MultiCare Deaconess Hospital achieves accreditation from the Surgical Review Corporation as a Center of Excellence in robotic and hernia care. MultiCare Valley Hospital is also recognized as a Center of Excellence in hernia care. These accreditations mean Deaconess and Valley meet rigorous national and international standards of care.

Crews hoist and install a new 4.5-ton MRI, along with supporting equipment, into the new MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital. This event marks an important milestone in the construction of the campus, which opened its doors to patients in May 2026. Watch the video to learn more about the installation.

U.S. News & World Report recognizes six MultiCare hospitals in its 2025-2026 edition of Best Hospitals for overall and specialty care. These distinctions reflect superior outcomes in areas such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and nursing care.

MultiCare, in partnership with Overlake Medical Center & Clinics, expands emergency care to North Puget Sound residents with the opening of a neighborhood emergency department (ED) in Lynnwood. In 2025, MultiCare opens two other neighborhood EDs in Union Gap and Bremerton. All three facilities operate 24/7 and include on-site radiology and laboratory services.

MultiCare partners with Tellica Imaging to improve access to affordable, high-quality medical imaging services in the Puget Sound region. As part of this partnership, new MultiCare Tellica Imaging Centers open in Auburn, Bremerton and Tacoma in 2025.

MultiCare signs an affiliation agreement with Samaritan Health Services, paving the way for Samaritan to become part of MultiCare. Based in Corvallis, Oregon, Samaritan is a nonprofit five-hospital health system and health plan administrator with more than 6,300 employees. The affiliation marks a major milestone in advancing access to care across Oregon and the Pacific Northwest.

Overlake Medical Center & Clinics celebrates its one-year anniversary with our organization. In that time, Overlake teams have worked with MultiCare to strengthen processes, improve care and build new connections. Two notable milestones have been the integration of pharmacy refill operations — helping Overlake patients receive medications faster — and the opening of the neighborhood emergency department in Lynnwood.

In honor of Veterans Day, MultiCare gives commemorative pins to employees who are veterans, celebrating the unique skills and perspective they bring to health care and recognizing the continued impact of their service. More than 1,300 MultiCare employees have served — or are serving — in the U.S. military.

MultiCare gives $800,000 to 53 organizations across the Puget Sound, Inland Northwest and Yakima Valley regions through our Community Partnership Fund. These organizations address identified needs in our communities and improve quality of life.

Mary Bridge Children’s Bessler Center spearheads the Pierce County Infant Formula Task Force to support access for 1,850 infants whose nutrition was at risk amid the government shutdown, laying the groundwork to weather future formula shortages. The same year, Bessler Center works with partners to offer over 1,300 vaccines to vulnerable children.

The MultiCare Behavioral Health Network opens an adolescent intensive outpatient program (IOP) at Greater Lakes Mental Healthcare – Lakewood. Serving youth 13-18 who are struggling with depression, self-harm behaviors and other serious mental health concerns, the 12-week program fills a critical gap between inpatient and outpatient care. It’s also the first IOP in Pierce County to serve patients with Medicaid.

Newsweek recognizes MultiCare as one of America’s Greatest Workplaces in 2025. This annual ranking recognizes companies and organizations that prioritize satisfaction in the workplace through work-life balance and several other key performance indicators.

MultiCare Valley Hospital earns an “A” safety grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit that sets standards for excellence in patient care. For the sixth time in eight years, The Leapfrog Group names MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital a Top Children’s Hospital.

The first cohort of students graduates from the School of Cardiac Ultrasound. A joint effort between Pulse Heart Institute and the Arizona Heart Foundation, the school will help bolster the cardiac sonography workforce and improve access to cardiac ultrasounds — an important test in the diagnosis and treatment of heart conditions.

MultiCare’s Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) and forensics program, established through a grant from the U.S. Health Resources & Services Administration, reaches several milestones during its first full year. In 2025, the team trained 80 nurses and advanced practice providers, such as nurse practitioners, to conduct trauma-informed and culturally responsive forensic exams for survivors following a sexual assault.
