MultiCare’s Board of Directors is made up of community members who volunteer their time and talents to ensure our communities have access to health care.
John S. Wiborg, Chair
President, Stellar Industrial Supply, Inc.
John has served on the Board since 2002 and assumed the role of Board Chair in 2014. He is President and Founder of Stellar Industrial Supply, Inc.
Deedra Smith Walkey, Vice Chair
Attorney
Deedra has been on the Board since 2010. She is an investment committee member for institutional investors.
Frank Tombari, Treasurer
Frank served as Chair of the MultiCare Inland Northwest Integrated Regional Board from 2018 to 2022, and continues to serve as a member of that Board. He joined the MultiCare Finance and Audit Committee in April 2019 (on which he currently serves as Chair) and has been a Director on the System Board since January 2022. Frank worked in the banking industry for over 46 years, before retiring in 2021.
Sally B. Leighton, Secretary
Sally joined the MultiCare Health System Board in 2001. Before retiring, she was a private-practice lawyer in Tacoma, most recently at Fitzer, Leighton & Fitzer, P.S.
Joanna S. Monroe
Attorney, managing partner, Staffing GC
Joanna rejoined the MultiCare Board in January 2024. A governance, risk and employment law expert with 25 years of experience helping organizations grow revenue and profit while reducing risk, she has extensive expertise in helping for-profit, non-profit and government organizations succeed in a dynamic regulatory environment.
Tara Lisa Perry
CEO, National Court Appointed Special Advocate/Guardian ad Litem (CASA/GAL) Association for Children
Tara joined the Board in 2021. Her 30-year career includes work in the not-for-profit and for-profit sectors, across a range of industries, such as the arts, emergency management and assistance, health care, transportation, retail and professional sports.
Tariq Salam, MD
Medical Director, Heart Rhythm Services, Pulse Heart Institute
Dr. Salam joined the Board at the end of 2020. He is a board-certified cardiac electrophysiologist, and has treated patients at MultiCare for more than 17 years.
Dale Sowell
Dale has been a Director since 2001. He retired in 2020 from his role as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Green Diamond Resource Company, a forest products company headquartered in Seattle.
Janine Terrano
CEO, Topia Technology, Inc.
Janine rejoined the MultiCare Board in August 2022. She is the founder and CEO of Topia Technology, Inc., which focuses on the secure movement and management of data between disparate components, devices, platforms, and systems.
Robin Thomashauer
President, CAQH
Robin has been a member of the Board since the end of 2020. She is the founder and president of CAQH, a non-profit alliance that aims to streamline health care operations.
Robert A. Yost
Robert has been a Director since 2006. He served as Managing Shareholder of CPA firm Brantley Janson Yost & Ellison before his retirement.
