Midwifery

MultiCare’s certified nurse-midwives offer a personalized, holistic approach to pregnancy, childbirth and gynecologic care. Our team of certified nurse-midwives are all licensed advanced registered nurse practitioners (ARNPs) who have completed additional education and training in women’s health and maternity care.

Midwives work with patients across the lifespan, from adolescence to menopause. For those who are pregnant, they aim to provide an empowering, supportive childbirth experience, delivering babies in the safety and security of a fully equipped hospital setting.

At MultiCare, our midwives offer a tailored approach to care that takes into account the whole person — how all the different aspects of your life contribute to your well-being.

Working collaboratively with OB/GYNs, midwives provide a variety of services:

• Routine gynecologic care
• Menopause management
• Family planning guidance
• Pregnancy and childbirth care for those who want an unmedicated birth as well as those who don’t
• Virtual pregnancy care, which includes a mix of in-person and virtual visits

Midwives also offer virtual appointments for conditions or needs that do not require in-person exams or testing such as:

• Urinary tract infections (UTI)
• Yeast infections
• Contraception (birth control)
• Medication refills
• Routine follow-up appointments
• Breastfeeding consultations
