To our neighbors in Aberdeen, Centralia, Olympia and Shelton, as well as Mason, Grays, Lewis and Thurston counties:

On December 30, MultiCare Health System announced that Capital Medical Center in Olympia will become a part of MultiCare this spring. This is an exciting step for our organization because it enhances our ability to expand the care we offer the people of Olympia and its surrounding communities.

MultiCare has offered an array of services in the Olympia and Thurston County region since the late 1990s when we opened a Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital satellite clinic in Olympia. Today the services we provide in the greater Olympia area include pediatric care, laboratory services, OB/GYN care, orthopedics and sports medicine, cardiac care through Pulse Heart Institute and urgent care services at a number of Indigo Urgent Care locations.

But though you may have seen the MultiCare name — or even received care at one of our clinics — you may not know very much about us. So, I want to share a little bit about who we are.

MultiCare is a locally governed, not-for-profit health system that got its start with the founding of Tacoma’s first hospital in 1882. Over the years we’ve expanded to meet the needs of our patients and their families and have grown from a Tacoma-based organization to a system of health serving communities across the state.

Our organization now includes a full continuum of health and health-related services including multiple primary and specialty care clinics, urgent care and virtual care services, as well as 10 hospitals and numerous programs and services to support our communities.

MultiCare’s mission is partnering for healing and a healthy future, and that mission goes well beyond medicine. In every community we serve, we strive to engage, support and partner with individuals and organizations who share our commitment to improve the health and wellness of people and communities. We listen and learn about the unique needs of each community and we do what we can to meet those needs.

It has been MultiCare’s privilege to serve the Thurston County region for the last two decades. I know that there is still much for us to learn about the needs in the region and how we can be of ever greater service.

We very much look forward to this journey with you.
