SPOKANE VALLEY – MultiCare Valley Hospital announced today that it was awarded a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). MultiCare Valley Hospital is the only hospital in Eastern Washington to earn the highest overall quality score.

The hospital rating summarizes a variety of measures across seven areas of quality – including safety of care, effectiveness of care, and patient experience – into a single star rating for each hospital.

Valley is in an elite group. Of the more than 4,500 hospitals evaluated by CMS, only 293, or six percent, received a five-star rating.

“As we celebrate our 50th Anniversary, this is truly an outstanding achievement and reflects the excellence in healthcare we deliver daily,” MultiCare Valley President Greg Repetti said. “As the highest-rated hospital in Eastern Washington, we are proud to serve our community.”

MultiCare Valley Hospital opened in 1969 and has grown to a 123-bed acute care Level III trauma center and has earned a wealth of awards and accreditations. Some of those include: the first hospital in the State of Washington to earn the Joint Commission’s Advanced Certification in Knee and Hip replacement, the Safe Sleep Gold Certification, Washington State Stroke Level II EMS, Washington State Cardiac Level III EMS, and Washington State Level III Trauma Center.  MultiCare Valley Hospital is also a two-time winner (2010, 2018) of the “Large Business of the Year” award from the Greater Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce.
