MultiCare has reached 10 consecutive years of recognition as one of the nation’s Most Wired health care organizations following a survey released by the American Hospital Association’s Health Forum and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives in November.

The survey identifies health care organizations that are at the forefront of using healthcare IT to improve the delivery of care through leading practices and innovative uses of technology.

“This award points to the good work being done at all our hospitals and clinics by the doctors, clinicians, nurses and staff who use the investments we make in technology to continuously improve the quality of care we provide for the people we serve,” says Casey Hossa, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for MultiCare. “Being named to the Most Wired list for 10 consecutive years speaks volumes about MultiCare’s commitment to excellence and embracing new technical capabilities.”

Only organizations that met specific requirements in each of four focus areas — infrastructure, business and administrative management, clinical quality and safety, and clinical integration — made the Most Wired cut.

MultiCare has been at the forefront of electronic health record technology since 1998, when it implemented MultiCare Connect. The electronic health record includes physician order entry, inpatient and outpatient area access, electronic imaging, patient access to records, bedside barcoding and other features that ensure patients get the safest and best care possible.
