Masking: Still a good idea even if you’re vaccinated

July 30, 2021 | By MultiCare Health System

On Tuesday, July 27, in an effort to slow the spread of the highly contagious Delta variant, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) revised their masking guidelines, recommending that fully vaccinated people return to wearing masks in indoor public spaces where COVID-19 virus transmission rates were “substantial or high.” Previously, the CDC had said wearing masks indoors was not necessary if you were fully vaccinated, outside of certain exceptions, like health care settings.

Michael Myint, MD, infectious disease specialist and epidemiologist at MultiCare, never stopped wearing a mask in most indoor settings. In the video above (recorded earlier in the month, prior to the change in CDC guidelines), he shares why.
