At MultiCare, we understand that living with cancer brings new challenges. That’s why our cancer support services are designed to make your journey a little easier. Our compassionate nurse navigators and social workers are here to listen carefully to your needs and recommend helpful services tailored to you. Cancer support services may vary by location. Cancer support services

Emotional and mental health. If you are experiencing anxiety, depression or difficulty sleeping (insomnia), we have cancer psychologists who may be able to see you in as little as one business day.

Home health care. We may be able to provide you with additional assistance at home. Our services include nurses who check on you after surgery and other specialists who perform light housework. These services require an order from your doctor or other health care provider.

Genetic evaluation and support. Changes in your genes can up your risk of developing certain cancers. Learn more about our genetic testing and counseling services.

Nutrition counseling. Cancer treatment can make eating difficult. Our registered oncology dietitians develop a personalized nutrition plan based on what you like to eat and what you need to thrive.

Palliative care. We offer a range of treatments to help improve your quality of life while receiving cancer treatment. Each of our oncology clinics have specially trained palliative care providers who can help with symptom relief. Learn more about palliative care.

Rehabilitation. We can offer help during or after cancer treatment to reduce its effects on your body. Our goal is to help you use your body as you normally would so you can live life fully. Learn more about our cancer rehabilitation services.

Advance care planning. Ensure you always have a voice in your future health care by participating in advance care planning. Through this process, you reflect on your goals and values, identify a trusted personal health care agent, and complete or update a durable power of attorney for health care. Cancer social workers

Our team includes licensed social workers who specialize in meeting the unique needs of cancer patients. Types of assistance our social workers typically provide include:

  • Coordinating transportation to and from appointments
  • Recommending ways to talk with your employer or loved ones about cancer
  • Lending a caring ear when you need someone to talk to
  • Helping you solve practical problems, such as finding extra help at home

Financial assistance

Our financial navigators specialize in helping people manage medical bills and access financial assistance for cancer care. We can help you:

  • Learn more about your insurance, including which services are covered and whether you need special approval (prior authorization) before receiving treatment
  • Get answers to questions about medical bills, including out-of-pocket costs
  • Find out about financial assistance options, which may include discounts and flexible payment plans
