MultiCare Health System “MultiCare” wants to make sure you understand all aspects of managing your care, and your privacy is an important piece. MultiCare has created this privacy policy so you are aware of the methods in which we collect and share your information.

This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use and protect personal information collected from visitors (“Users” or “You”) to the MultiCare website (the “Site”), and serves to assist You in making informed decisions when using our Site and services. Information we collect

When you visit and use our virtual Services, we may collect information in order to be a better partner in your health. This information includes Personal Information, Protected Health Information, Transaction Information, Location Information and Usage Data.

  • “Personal Information” is information that can be used to identify, contact or locate you. Examples include name, address, email address, telephone number or other information you may provide.
  • “Protected Health Information” is personally identifiable information that is protected by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 and its supporting regulations (“HIPAA”).
  • “Transaction Information” is payment information provided by you, such as payment card type and expiration date and last four digits of your payment card number.
  • “Location Information” is a subset of Personal Information that can be used to locate the device you use to access the Services. Location Information may include: (i) the location of the device derived from GPS or WiFi use; (ii) the IP address of the device or internet service used to access the Services; and (iii) other information made available by a user or others that indicates the current or prior location of the user. If you do not want us to collect Location Information from your device, please disable the location setting(s) on your device or delete our Apps. Please note that disabling the location setting may affect certain features of the Services and the Apps.
  • “Usage Data” is information that we automatically collect about your use of the Services and your device. This could include the date and time of your visit, the amount of time you spend on the site and your location at the time of your visit, down to the city level. This type of information does not usually, by itself, uniquely identify an individual, and may include your IP address, web browser and operating system, device model and manufacturer, and your activity on the Services.

We use this information on an aggregate basis in order to track Site statistics, identify pages that are most popular to our visitors, conduct performance monitoring and troubleshooting, and provide information about our products and services that we think you might find useful.   • To provide information to you. We provide information to you regarding our products and Services, and products and Services of our affiliates and business partners, that we think may be of interest to you.
  • To improve customer service. Information you provide helps us respond to your customer Service requests and support needs more efficiently.

  • As content on the Site, when uploaded by you or with your permission.
  • We may permit You to upload pictures or comments to the Site.
  • As otherwise required or permitted by law. There may be times when the law permits or requires Us to use information for other purposes.

We may link Usage Data to the Personal Information we have collected about you. If we link this Usage Data to your Personal Information, we will treat such linked information as Personal Information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. We may also anonymize your information or aggregate your information with other users of the Services (“Aggregate Information”). This Aggregate Information is not Personal Information, because it cannot be used to identify you, and may be used by us for any lawful purpose.

In addition to those purposes listed above, we may use your information for any other purpose disclosed to you at the time of collection.

Data collection technologies

We use certain technologies to collect the data we reference above so that we can customize the content you receive and personalize your online experience.

We use cookies, pixel tags, log files and other technologies (collectively, “Data Collection Technologies”) to help us provide the Services, tailor our content and enhance your online experience. Our Data Collection Technologies include:

  • Cookies: MultiCare’s website may use cookies in specific areas for statistical tracking purposes, to store visitor preferences and to assist in the personalization of a display. A cookie is information that a website puts on your computer’s hard drive so that it can remember something about you at a later time.   • MultiCare reviews the privacy policy of any vendor it uses for Site management. This information can be shared upon request.
  • Log Information: When you visit the Services, our servers automatically record certain log file information, such as your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, operating system, browser type and language, referring URLs, access times, pages viewed, links clicked, and other information about your activities on the Services.
  • Credit card/account information stored/saved: Bank or credit card information is tokenized and encrypted with the merchant account associated with the agreement. Bank or credit card information is never stored in the system. These services are provided by Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliant vendors. Please read these Terms carefully before you use or access the Services, as they are a legal agreement between MultiCare and you. These Terms contain important provisions that limit our liability to you.

How we protect your information

MultiCare uses reasonable data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to protect your data. However, due to the nature of electronic communications, it is impossible to provide 100 percent assurances that your information will not become known or accessible to third parties. If you provide any confidential information about you or your health to us via electronic communication, it is at your own risk.

What about Special Identifiable Information?

Certain identifiable information is particularly sensitive, and we only use that information for the specific purpose it was provided.

  • If it is Financial Information, we use the information only to bill for the services or products that you have ordered.
  • If it is an Other Unique Identifier, such as a Social Security Number, we use the information only to register you for the requested activity or educational class.

How we share your information

We do not sell, trade or rent your personal identification information to others. We may share your information:

  • Notice of Privacy Practices: MultiCare may also share your information consistent with the Notice of Privacy Practices. Health and Personal Information, Personally Identifiable Information and Protected Health Information will be kept confidential as governed by law.
  • With our Affiliates, Business Units and Brands: We may share your information internally among our current or future business units, brands and our affiliates to provide, maintain or improve our Services.
  • With Vendors, Consultants and Other Service Providers: We may share your information with our vendors (including third-party hosting providers) who need access to such information in order to carry out work or perform services on our behalf.

  • For Legal Purposes: We will disclose your information when we think it is necessary to investigate or prevent actual or expected fraud, criminal activity, injury or damage to us or others or when otherwise required by law, regulation, subpoena or court order, or if necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of MultiCare or others. We may share information if necessary to enforce this Privacy Policy or Terms of Use of the Site. We reserve the right to report to appropriate law enforcement or government agencies activities that we, in good faith, believe to be harmful or unlawful, with or without providing notice to you.

Your choices; interest-based content

In addition to using cookies and related technologies as described above, we use third-party service providers to serve interest-based advertisements for MultiCare products and services across the internet. These service providers may collect non-identifiable information about your interactions with our website through the use of these technologies. Security

MultiCare has security measures in place to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of information under our control. MultiCare employs strict security measures to safeguard online financial transactions through the use of current industry encryption standards. Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 or higher and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) with 256-bit encryption. Email

Transmittal of emails to this Site should not be considered to be private. Email transmissions should be considered to be at risk of becoming known or accessible to third parties. If you provide any confidential information about you or your health to us via electronic communication, it is at your own risk. If you wish to correspond with us about your health via email on the open internet, please complete and return the consent below. Opt in/out

We may ask for additional information in order to offer materials of interest to individuals with specific needs. We offer an opt in/out option, which is stored with your account. We will continue to send information to you as long as you agree to receive it.

Links to other sites

The Site contains links to other websites as a service to our visitors. We do not endorse the products of the companies associated with these third-party websites, and we do not control the content or links that appear on these websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these external websites. These websites and services have their own privacy policies and customer service policies, and browsing and interactions on those websites are subject to the terms and policies of those websites. Children’s information

MultiCare respects the privacy of all online users, especially children. Our Services are not intended for use by children under 18 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect information, including personal information as defined by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, from children under the age of 13. If you are under 13 years of age, you should not register or provide personal information to us unless your parent or guardian expressly gives us permission. If you are a parent or guardian of a child under 13 years of age that you believe has disclosed personal information to us or on the Site, please contact us so that we can delete the child’s information.

Updating your information

If your information needs to be updated, corrected or deleted, please notify us. Your personal information can only be deleted in accordance with our data retention policy, and as permitted by law. Further, personal information may remain in databases, access logs, backup media and other records. We cannot update or remove information from records of third parties.

MultiCare only offers services within the United States of America, and the Site is only intended to be used by individuals in the United States of America.
