Mary Bridge Children’s to take on operations of Children’s Therapy at Valley Medical Center

TACOMA, Wash. — MultiCare Health System announced today that Children’s Therapy at UW Medicine’s Valley Medical Center will become part of Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital & Health Network, effective September 25.

Mary Bridge Children’s agreed to bring the center, located at 3600 Lind Ave. SW in Renton, Wash., into its network of comprehensive family-centered health care and continue offering pediatric speech, occupational and physical therapies for children at the standalone clinic.

“Our mission is to partner for healing and a healthy future for children. We’re honored that Valley is entrusting us with this opportunity,” said Jeff Poltawsky, president and market leader of Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital & Health Network. “We’re thrilled to expand Mary Bridge Children’s services into south King County and look forward to carrying on the clinic’s legacy in the community.”

Children’s Therapy at Valley has served families for more than 25 years.

“Mary Bridge Children’s offers specialized care and wraparound support for pediatric patients and their families. I believe this transition will be an excellent realignment into a robust pediatric system of care and I’m excited about what the future holds for staff and the patients served here,” said Jeannine Erickson Grinnell, MHA, CPA, chief executive officer of UW Medicine, Valley Medical Center.

The clinic’s operations including patient care, equipment and space will be transferred to Mary Bridge Children’s with no lapse in care. Additionally, Children’s Therapy staff who desire to stay at the center will become part of the MultiCare/Mary Bridge Children’s team.

In 2021, Mary Bridge Children’s therapy services treated more than 9,000 children at its current locations in Tacoma, Puyallup, Federal Way, Olympia and Gig Harbor. The integration of Children’s Therapy will add an additional 1,900 patients and expand Mary Bridge Children’s network into south King County, improving access to wraparound health care services for families around the region.
