TACOMA, Wash. — MultiCare Health System announced that Tara Lisa Perry, CEO of the National Court Appointed Special Advocate/Guardian ad Litem (CASA/GAL) Association for Children, has joined MultiCare’s Board of Directors.

Perry’s 30-year career includes work in the not-for-profit and for-profit sectors. Her experience spans several industries, such as the arts, emergency management and assistance, health care, transportation, retail and professional sports. Throughout her career, Perry has been at the forefront of large-scale change initiatives, major capital campaigns, substantive national project rollouts and innovative program development.

Perry joined the National CASA/GAL Association for Children in 2013 as its chief strategy officer. She then served as deputy CEO, chief operating officer and interim CEO before officially stepping into the CEO role in 2016. Prior to joining National CASA/GAL, Perry was the vice president of strategy and operations for the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta, the nation’s third largest arts center.

Under Perry’s leadership, National CASA/GAL engaged in several change initiatives, such as:

  • Restructuring the service delivery model
  • Revising the pre-service curriculum
  • Developing new standards for local programs and state organizations
  • Establishing new criteria for association membership
  • Launching a state development strategy, resulting in the opening of 14 new state organizations

Through these and other efforts, National CASA/GAL experienced a 40 percent increase in funding since 2016. The organization also increased the number of advocates to 93,225 and grew the number of children served to 242,236 in 2020.

“Tara has a long track record of not just leading organizations, but growing organizations,” said Bill Robertson, president and CEO of MultiCare. “Her expertise, her commitment to community service and focus on continual improvement will be a significant contributor to MultiCare’s success as we move into the future. It is a privilege to have her on our board and I am looking forward to what we’ll accomplish together.”

MultiCare’s Board of Directors is made up of community members who volunteer their time and talents to ensure our communities have access to health care.
