The Sleep Testing Center at MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital provides diagnostic sleep studies to help identify sleep‑related breathing disorders and other sleep conditions. This location performs sleep testing only and does not include sleep medicine clinic visits, provider consultations or ongoing management.

Patients are referred to this Sleep Testing Center by a sleep medicine provider or ordering provider after an initial evaluation. Test results are sent back to the referring provider to support diagnosis and treatment planning.

Sleep testing services offered

This location offers a range of diagnostic sleep studies, including:

• Overnight, in‑laboratory sleep studies (polysomnography)
• Home sleep-apnea testing (when appropriate)
• Split‑night studies and PAP titration studies
• Daytime sleep studies, such as the multiple sleep latency test (MSLT), when ordered

Sleep studies are typically performed overnight. Patients check in during the evening and are discharged the following morning. Some testing may extend into the daytime, depending on the study ordered.

During a sleep study, patients are monitored by trained sleep technologists in a comfortable, private sleep room. Specialized equipment records breathing, oxygen levels, heart rate, brain activity and movement patterns during sleep.

Referrals and scheduling

Sleep Testing Centers accept patients by referral only.

• A referral from a sleep medicine provider or ordering provider is required.
• This location does not provide sleep medicine clinic visits, consultations or follow‑up care.
• Test results are returned to the referring provider, who coordinates next steps and ongoing care with the patient.
