Meet our bariatric surgeon

Our program is led by Monica Young, MD, a board-certified gastrointestinal and bariatric surgeon within the Bariatric & Obesity Surgical Services clinic. Dr. Young completed her general surgery residency at the University of California Irvine and her fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at the University of Washington.

She developed a passion for bariatric surgery after seeing the amazing impact it can have on people’s medical conditions, general health and overall quality of life. Dr. Young is a firm believer in the importance of a team approach to weight loss. She is proud to have gathered a great team made up of a registered nurse bariatric coordinator, registered dietitian and medical assistant – all dedicated to helping patients navigate the process of undergoing bariatric surgery.
