Chiropractic Care

Relieving pain and supporting a healthy spine

Spinal pain is common — most people will experience it at some point in their lives — and it can range from a dull ache to sharp, stabbing sensations that are aggravated by certain motions such as standing, sitting or bending. Sometimes spinal pain symptoms will resolve on their own over time. But in some cases these symptoms can be persistent, or you may experience periodic flare-ups that make it difficult to participate in day-to-day activities.

If spinal pain, or pain in other areas of the body, is interfering with your life, chiropractic care may bring relief. A chiropractor is a licensed health care professional who specializes in treating mobility problems with joints — parts of the body where two or more bones connect.

At MultiCare, our chiropractor collaborates with the other members of your health care team, such as your primary care provider, orthopedist, physical therapist or pain specialist, to support your health and well-being. Currently, our chiropractic services are only available in the Inland Northwest region.

What we treat

We provide chiropractic care for a range of symptoms or injuries related to the neuromusculoskeletal system, which includes the bones, muscles, nerves, tendons and ligaments.

Common problems we treat include:

  • Mechanical neck and back pain — when the source of the pain is related to the spinal joints, disks, vertebrae or soft tissues
  • Disk pain
  • Pain in other parts of the body, such as the shoulder, wrist, ankle or hip
  • Motor vehicle accident-related injuries
  • Work-related injuries
  • Chronic pain

How we help

Your chiropractor will discuss your health history, evaluate your symptoms and perform a physical exam. In some cases, you may need medical imaging, such as X-rays, or other tests. Your chiropractor works closely with the other members of your care team to form a treatment plan that relieves your pain and restores functioning.

Treatments involve manual manipulations — a chiropractor uses their hands or specialized equipment to adjust joints in certain areas of your body, bringing them into proper alignment and relieving pressure. Sometimes treatments can also reduce muscle tightness and nerve pain. Our treatments include a variety of chiropractic techniques that are safe and gentle and tailored to your particular needs. Typically, chiropractic treatments involve a limited number of sessions over a period of weeks or months depending on your specific situation.

As part of your care, your chiropractor may also discuss exercises you can do at home or lifestyle changes that can help support your long-term joint health.
