Graduate Medical Education in the Inland Northwest Region

MultiCare Medical Academics (MedAc) brings together all physician and advanced practice provider (APP) education across a unified network. Our mission is to attract, develop, and support top clinical talent; advancing exceptional care for our patients and the communities we serve.

In support of MultiCare’s mission—Partnering for healing and a healthy future—MedAc is committed to growing a community-based teaching health system and becoming a preferred destination for physicians, educators, residents, fellows, and students.

Learner Coordination

Our MedAc team serves as the central point of coordination for learner experiences across MultiCare. We are committed to providing a streamlined, efficient, and supportive process for both learners and academic partners.

Our responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating onboarding and sponsorship for medical students, visiting residents, fellows, and advanced practice provider (APP) students
  • Serving as the primary liaison between MultiCare and affiliated academic partners and programs
  • Ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements for clinical education
  • Managing all learner placement requests and approvals through the myClinicalExchange  platform

Through this centralized approach, MedAc helps ensure a consistent, high-quality experience for learners while supporting our clinical teams and educational partners.

Pre-Rotation Requirements

Prior to requesting or beginning a clinical experience, learners are responsible for partnering with their program or clinical placement coordinator to ensure all prerequisites are met.

This includes:

  • Verifying that an active affiliation agreement is in place between their program and MultiCare
  • Securing a preceptor for the requested clinical experience
  • Confirming eligibility and readiness to submit placement requests through myClinicalExchange

Failure to complete these steps in advance may delay or prevent rotation approval.
